Letters [manuscript]. 1903.

Two letters with pencil ink illustrations (a couple picnicking and a portrait sketch of Derwent Wood), written by Lambert to Wood, inviting him to visit and thanking him for a drawing. One is dated 28 December 1903 and the other is undated. Both have corners of the letters missing.

Artist. Born at St Petersburg (Leningrad) fourth child of George Washington and Annie Matilda Lambert (nee Firth). Won 1899 Wynne prize for "Across the Black Soil Plains". In 1900 he won a travelling art scholarship. From 1917 to 1920 he held an appointment as an official war artist, A.I.F., which resulted in a a series of sketches and large pictures of battles.
